Glorious Pheasant Hunting

For a large number of visitors to this community, hunting is the most exciting aspect of the area.  One of the largest concentrations of pheasants in South Dakota is located around Gregory.  The annual Pheasant season attracts a large number of sportsmen from across the nation.  Quality pheasant hunting, however, is only the beginning.  This area also hosts some of the finest deer hunting, including mule deer hunting, to be found in the country.  The outdoorsman can choose from antelope, coyote, fox, prairie dog, jackrabbit, cottontail, and squirrel.  In addition, dove, grouse and a large wild turkey population are also available for hunting.  The community's situation on the flyway makes for excellent duck and goose hunting. There are few who will even challenge the fact that the south central region of South Dakota offers the best traditional native pheasant hunting available today.  We have the hunting and facilities to meet your needs. If you have questions or want to look at specific dates, please call the city office for more information (1-605-835-8270).

Fishing

Fishing is a tradition for Gregory and the surrounding area.  The Missouri River, captured in Lake Francis Case, is only 30 minutes north of this community, and the angler has the option of fishing for walleye, northern, sauger, catfish and white bass, while enjoying the breathtaking scenery that adorns the river's banks.  State operated camping facilities are strategically located along the river, and a plentiful number of boat ramps make for excellent accessibility to the lake.
