The International Order of Odd
Fellows is a worldwide fraternity of brotherhood that cares about its
community. This fraternity is based on the Motto of Friendship, Love
and Truth while striving to make the world a better place in which to live.
The objective of IOOF is to improve the elevate the character of mankind by
providing charity to those less fortunate, scholarships to college students,
and fund raisers for special causes.
Gregory Lodge #189 was chartered on
November 24, 1908 and currently has 75 members. Membership
includes both men and women. The meetings are held every first and
third Tuesday evenings at the lodge hall on Hwy 47 and 11th Street.
Annual Fall Round-Up is held in October when state wide new members complete
their degree work for membership.
The Gregory Lodge is well known in
the community for providing a concession stand during the 4th of July
celebration.
We also maintain the IOOF Cemetery
of Gregory.
At the present time Wayne Bortz,
Gregory lodge member, is Deputy Grand Master of the South Dakota Grand Lodge
and will serve as the State Grand Master in 2004.
